Quick visit

Our quick visit back to Wisconsin was really nice. And cool. It felt like late September.

Initially, I was going do this trip myself since it was my friend's wedding and Michelle went back earlier in the summer for her friend's wedding. But then Michelle's aunt gave us a buy-one-get-one-free ticket. Thanks Julie! Unfortunately, we had airport/airplane trouble on the way there and the way back. Oh well, still beats 22 hours in the car.

We got to see baby Will, who is the 2-month-old son of Tammi and Matt.

He gave me a little bear hug, which was nice.

In addition to the wedding, we got to see my folk's new place (above with 1964 Chevy Impala), my sister Laura's new place, and the newlywed's (Matt and Autumn) new place.

Back in Florida, it was kind of rough start to the week. I missed the entire first day of classes because our flight was cancelled on Sunday and Green Bay doesn't have too many other options on Sunday evening. So we had to fly on Monday.

Today was good, though. It was the first day of TA-ing and I got to talk a little bit about plants. We just walked around campus looking at trees like this massive live oak. Do you know what the number one use of live oak is today? Aesthetics. Really. An oak like this would add thousands of dollars to the value of any property. Notice the branch supports in the lower right portion of this photo. That is to prevent bikers from getting hung up on those long, nearly decumbent branches. I don't know what the width of this particular crown is, but most live oaks are much wider than they are tall.
