This small shrub is also a member of the blueberry family and it has been in bloom for several weeks now at my research sites.
Tarflower gets its name from a sticky substance on the outside of flowerbuds.
I had to throw this gopher tortoise in here for the record. I've been seeing 2 to 3 every day I go to the field, "running" along the road more often than not.
