Orchids, Rain, Sitting-Up

I found a large patch of yellow-fringed orchids the other day. Can't believe it's already been a year.

My field sites received over 10 inches of rain in less than two weeks.

The main roads were flooded and had to be repaired this week.

Interesting fact: the national record for 24-hour rainfall (38 inches!) was, until earlier in the decade, only about 10 miles from my field site. That was during Hurricane Easy in the 1950s. Can you imagine over 3 feet of rain in a day?

Lydia has been pretty solid sitting up by herself this past week. I put her right in front of the sofa in case she decides to throw herself back.

Going after those toes throws her off a bit.
