Homosassa Springs

It sounds just like it is spelled. :) Michelle's grandparents took us to visit these springs about two weeks ago. Enjoy the pictures. We sure enjoyed your visit Dave and Dort!

What used to be a privately owned zoo is now a state-run wildlife park. The new header photo features one of six manatees that have been rescued from the wild and are now living a safe and sheltered life in the park boundary. Another one is pictured below. All of the bird photos below were taken at the park.

The springs themselves are quite nice. The main spring is called the 'fish bowl'. It is so large that they built a giant underwater observatory right in the middle of it.

Florida garfish

Anhingas

Flamingos

Whooping crane

Egret

We also went to Rainbow Springs, which was probably one of the prettiest places that we've been to yet, here in Florida. Quite the bargain too; 1 whole dollar to get into the park. Unfortunately, none of us bothered to remember our camera. Next time....

I went here with the kids a few years ago! We loved it! Got to watch the manatees eat lettuce!

I just want to wish both of you a WONDERFUL Easter, full of God's blessings and time together, away from school and work.
